Deputy Ward Manager - Royston

A new and exciting role has become available for professional deputy ward manager to work in Royston, Hertfordshire. The site consists of medium secure, low secure and both locked and open rehabilitation opportunities, split between male and female patients, requiring specialist recovery. The site offers a wide range of clinical therapies and treatment plans, including a psychiatric intensive care unit for females who present significant and continued risk to themselves or others.

The successful deputy ward manager will be required to work a regular shift pattern over a 7-day period.

This role is immediate start, post recruitment.

Deputy Ward Manager essential skills/ responsibilities:

  • At least 3 years, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable expertise within a clinical speciality
  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, their families and visitors whilst working as a Senior Nurse in a ward of equivalent area
  • Comply with your professional code of conduct at all times
  • The ability to build and maintain professional and therapeutic relationships with patients and their families
  • To keep calm under pressure and when dealing with challenging or confrontational behaviour
  • Good organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Manage and communicate sensitive information effectively
  • Effective team work skills
  • Provide clinical supervision to a group of defined nursing staff
  • Supervises a defined group of team members, contributing to their overall CPD, mandatory training and appraisal process recognising the skills require across the team

  • A minimum of 6 months recent experience as a hospital based registered mental health nurse
  • NMC registration
  • Occupational Health in line with the dept. of health
  • Eligibility to work within the UK
  • Physical Intervention training (valid within last 12 months)
