Registered Manager Leading on Semi-Independent Ofsted Transitions across Multiple Sites - (Three solo placement semi independent homes to Ofsted Regulated solo provisions)

An experienced Registered Manager is sought in order to take lead on a project to transition (Initially three) semi-independent solo Homes to Ofsted Regulated provisions across Harrow and Greenford. 

This role would suit someone with excellent Ofsted legislation understanding and a proven track record of previous residential inspections with Ofsted, ultimately the successful candidate will take lead for the provider on this transitional project in view of attaining multiple Ofsted regulated provisions and at this point uphold further responsibility (with associated title) for all transitioned provisions so plenty of progression available for the right candidate also. 

You would be responsible for the delivery of all care services, as well as the strategic planning for developments within the homes, and all day to day management matters. You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to build on the well-established principles and practice standards existing across the group and proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of childcare standards across the company.

The company as a whole are a well established, well staffed and highly rated (with legislative bodies) provider of semi independent accommodations, children's homes and supported living services across London. 

The Registered Manager is responsible for delivering childcare that is focussed on obtaining the best outcomes for each child and young person within the home. Consequently, you are expected to demonstrate practical leadership in childcare, as well as organise and support staff to provide the best possible care for each child and young person. This involves being personally available, as well as the supervision and mentoring of staff, organisation of work patterns, facilitation of care focussed training, and accessing of appropriate services to support the childcare practices within the home.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enrich the lives of young people in our care, helping them create a positive future
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Children Act 1989 and the accompanying guidance and regulations (Vol.4 Residential Care), the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2001. This will be achieved in consultation with the relevant statutory body.
  • Ensure that any matters relating to child protection are managed in line with current legislation, national standards and best safeguarding practice.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide leadership and coaching in childcare practice within the home to ensure best outcomes for children and young people. 
  • Stewardship of the home underpinning philosophy and practice framework, ensuring that care standards are never compromised.
  • Ensure that all of the home’s policies and procedures are implemented appropriately.
  • Supervise and support the staff group ensuring that the team are developed appropriately to meet the specific needs of children and young people in the home.
  • With the Assistant Manager and/or Seniors, ensure that staff supervision continues to support both childcare delivery and staff development.
  • Complete probationary and annual performance appraisals for all staff to ensure that they are able to continue to provide appropriate levels of childcare.

Home Management:

  • To achieve the best outcomes for all children and young people, ensure that the home is managed effectively and efficiently in a warm and caring manner.
  • Ensure the seniors and residential childcare staff are focussed on providing the best childcare for the children and young people.
  • Make sure that best practice is maintained by conducting regular quality assurance inspections.
  • Sustain and develop the administration systems, recording systems, and repair work, so that a warm and caring home environment is maintained.
  • Manage the home within the agreed budget, taking full responsibility for all incidental costs as well as direct costs such as repairs to the property and appliances, new fridges and TV’s, staff costs, food, heating, agency costs etc.
  • Effectively manage the homes devolved budget and ensure full financial compliance with year-end reporting.

Required Skills:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) OR willingness to work towards
  • 5 years is residential childcare and 2 years as a senior
  • Driving license
