Support Worker - Ashford Surrey

An empathetic and proactive Senior Support Worker is sought for a assist in the smooth running of a four bed therapeutic children's home based in Merstham Surrey.

This newly opened mixed home boasts a Good rating with Ofsted and is set in large, spacious grounds with plenty of outdoor space for the young people that reside here to enjoy.

The ultimate purpose of the job role is to take oversight of staff providing high quality direct work with extremely vulnerable children in this newly opened residential care setting, who present with high levels of need due to their traumatic and adverse early life experiences.

Key Tasks

● Ability to work as part of a multi-agency childcare team and demonstrate leadership skills

● Evidence of managing and motivating staff successfully

● Effective supervision of detailed risk assessments and care plans ensuring compliance

● Ability to engage with children and young people with emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties as a result of childhood experiences, poor mental health, domestic abuse, substance misuse, sexual abuse and learning disability.

● Ability to work in partnership with professionals from other services and to engage with service users’ families

● Effective verbal and written communication skills, including official external reports; e.g. court reports, submissions to Ofsted etc.

● Ability to prioritise own workload.

● Ability to use ICT for record keeping and communication including electronic social care records, email, internet and Microsoft Word.

● Hold Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.

● Attain therapeutic carer Practitioner status , through completion of the orgs therapeutic care programme
