Meditemp are excited to announce we are looking for an assistant manager to work in a brand new home in Ilford, London. The home is registered to care for up to 4 children specialising in learning difficulties for ages 11 to 18 years. The new assistant manager will be working alongside the Registered Manager to manage the service's existing workforce and resources, as well as to promote and safeguard the welfare of the young people in the home.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To assist the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
• To deputies in the absence of the Registered Manager.
• To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people.
• To conduct supervisions with the staff team.
• To be part of the on call rota.
• To undertake direct work with Children and young people as appropriate.
• To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints.
• To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
• To ensure that resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained.

Person Specification:

• A good standard of literacy and numeracy
• NVQ 3 / Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) (Level 5 to be applied for within 6 months)
• Residential Experience
• Team Building and Supervision Skills
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
• Understanding the needs of young people who have experienced trauma including managing challenging behaviors
• Understanding and knowledge of The Children’s Regulations 2015 and Ofsted.
• Good organisational skills
