Registered Manager - Children's Residential

Our client is looking for an experienced Registered Manager to run their 5 bed home in Barking, Essex.

 

This well-established children’s home is seeking a child focused manager, who has a forward-thinking approach to ensure the smooth running of the home. This children’s home provides personalised support plans tailored to the young persons needs. The staff promote positive parenting, advocating the concept of social inclusion, self-esteem and confidence building. This home facilitates the young people to acquire the necessary knowledge, develop their social and career skills with the collaboration a multidisciplinary team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Enrich the lives of young people in our care, helping them create a positive future
  • Ensure that any matters relating to child protection are managed in line with current legislation, national standards and best safeguarding practice.

  • Ensure the effective implementation of the Children Act 1989 and the accompanying guidance and regulations (Vol.4 Residential Care), the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2001. This will be achieved in consultation with the relevant statutory body.

 

Leadership and Team Management:

 

  • Stewardship of the home underpinning philosophy and practice framework, ensuring that care standards are never compromised.
  • Complete probationary and annual performance appraisals for all staff to ensure that they are able to continue to provide appropriate levels of childcare.
  • With the Assistant Manager and/or Seniors, ensure that staff supervision continues to support both childcare delivery and staff development.
  • Provide leadership and coaching in childcare practice within the home to ensure best outcomes for children and young people. 
  • Ensure that all of the home’s policies and procedures are implemented appropriately.
  • Supervise and support the staff group ensuring that the team are developed appropriately to meet the specific needs of children and young people in the home.
  • Rota Management

 

Home Management:

 

  • Ensure the seniors and residential childcare staff are focussed on providing the best childcare for the children and young people.
  • To achieve the best outcomes for all children and young people, ensure that the home is managed effectively and efficiently in a warm and caring manner.
  • Manage the home within the agreed budget, taking full responsibility for all incidental costs as well as direct costs such as repairs to the property and appliances, new fridges and TV’s, staff costs, food, heating, agency costs etc.
  • Make sure that best practice is maintained by conducting regular quality assurance inspections.
  • Sustain and develop the administration systems, recording systems, and repair work, so that a warm and caring home environment is maintained.
  • Effectively manage the homes devolved budget and ensure full financial compliance with year-end reporting.

 

Required Skills:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (Children and Young People’s Residential Management) OR willingness to work towards
  • 5 years is residential childcare and 2 years as a senior
  • Driving license
